i used to hate wireless, as small said i had trouble getting it all to work right at my friends house, but that was a couple years ago when wireless was newer. if you stay with a known name, someone like linksys or netgear are good. my dad wanted to run wireless in the house since he got a laptop for work so i got a netgear wireless G router and have had no problems using it. as small said though, they do pose security risks, people can steal your internet easily if they're in range and probably do some networking **** to get into your comps if they're so inclined.

as for good online sites, i have no idea. i bought all the stuff for us at best buy. i dont know if they have ads like they do here, but every sunday we get ads in the paper with all sorts of mail in rebates and stuff...saved like 50-100 bucks in mail in rebates. i'd try newegg.com or buy.com i guess, i've bought from them before and they have decent prices.
