Trip to the Dunes

Recently I was in Indiana for a family reunion and had a chance to go to the sand dunes, below are some pictures from my digital, not the greatest but not too bad.

We did the Cowles Bog Trail, which is about a 4 mile trail through the bog (not really a bog though). The area is heavily wooded, well for what I would expect to grow out of sand anyway.

The coolest part of the trail was coming out on top of a dune, there was about an 80+ foot drop down to the beach. The water was amazingly clear, the bad part was the trek back up the dune, if you have never walked up a dune the closest thing I can relate it to is trying to go up a down escalator with your feet sinking into the steps. If you look closely at the 2nd picture you can make you the Chicago skyline.

Something else that was new to me is the nuke power plant, never actually been near one.
