Almost had to call you Sunday night for bail money, my brother, brother in law and I came close to being charged with assult...
We were in downtown Portland, 9th and Adler when my family, all 16 of them were coming out of a restraunt around 9:30. We hear this scream and turn around, this guy slams his fist into this girl's face sending her flying into a parked car.
We run over to see if we can help and the guy starts walking away. My brother in law screams out, hey stop right there and the guy goes into a full out sprint. My brother, brother in law and me go tearing after this guy for over 6 blocks, (I can't believe I kept up)... before my brother in law yells let him go. We were within 30 feet of catching him. Seems my brother in law got a call from my sister telling him he that it was a domestic abuse case and that she won't press charges.
The police came and asked us some questions and I asked, if we had caught him and he started something up with us, what would have happened. The cop goes, we would legally have to take you in for assult eventhough your intent was meant well. We came within 30 feet of nabbing this foo... We were told they would have printed us and held us over night.
hehehe, needless to say, my parents were a proud that their boys would come to the aid of the family but also upset because we came close to being arrested and putting ourselves in harms way....
