it's finished! (sort of)
Well, today I got all the parts for my new computer and put it all together. I bought everything from a MarketPro computer show in north Jersey, but it still ended costing essentially what it would have on NewEgg.com. Anyway, all I need is an OS and a quick one-over by our family friend who's a system administrator (who's also giving me a copy of XP he has from work). I need the one-over because the wires in the case (for the power button, etc) didn't match up with what the motherboard's manual said nor did it's manual do any good; I had to look it all up online. So hopefully it'll be working tomorrow, and I can start installing and transferring data.
Here are the specs:
Athalon 64 X2 3800+ dual core
2x1gb Corsair DDR400 RAM
e-Geforce 7600GT 256mb overclocked graphics card (over to 600mhz core, 1560mhz memory)
Gigabyte K8 SLI-enabled mobo
16x DVD-RW, etc drive (etc meaning it can read, write, everything to cds and dvds, except no light scribe and no DVD-RAM)
Antec 500W power supply
Cooler Master Centurian 5 CAC-T05-UW case
I was going to get a 400gb WD SATA drive, which was about $160, but I didn't have enough money and for that price it was probably a 5400rpm drive. Though, I didn't have money for any new HDD so I have to use my old Samsung 112gb IDE drive until I get a job.
Pics to come later!
