This is my work workstation I use for 3D rendering/modeling stuff among other CAD related things.
Like the title says, I have installed 4 gig of RAM but it only shows as 3gig in the system properties as well as the task manager under physical memory in Windows.
- The MB is an Intel 915GEV. Memory is DDR2 4200 (1gb x 4) Dual channel.
- I'm not sure what CPUZ is finding but it looks like 2gig (2048) but it is also saying DUAL, strange.
Things I did:
1) Checked the MB manual to make sure it does take up to 4gig...it does.
2) Ran windiag for memory test and everything checked out.
3) removed each stick and booted with only one (1gig) stick at a time to test them all by themselves. No problems there.
4) checked in bios to see if the memory was showing up and it says 4gig.
5) Removed and reseated each stick.
6) Removed and moved them around in their dual pairs.
Any ideas?
