excessive?, yeah
but for the cost of 1.5L of oil, why not?
where i drive mine on dirt roads, it sure don't hurt

watch your torque when scewing on oil pan plugs, too
most people over-torque them like crazy and end up stripping the threads (and this is THE epitome of "pain in the ***")
previous owner prolly butchered that plug with a crescent wrench
they should be shot.

blah blah
yeah, :O
lol I almost used a crescent wrench then decided the pain and effort required to use one wasnt worth it so I went out and bought a set of box end metric wrenches (since the only metric anything I have is a set of allens and some sockets). as for the oil all I did with my bike is lift the bike verticle so that all the oil would drain down and then set it back on its kick stand.
