I feel your pain when it comes to cancelling cards I have 1 that I have been trying to cancel for 4 years, but they keep sending me cards. Then I was told it could only be cancelled in writing. So I would check with the card company to make sure that it actually did get cancelled and ask them if there is any sort of grace period to make sure all charges clear.
