I have the HP Photosmart 8250 and it's a pretty good printer. 6 individual ink cartridges. If you read the reviews some people complain that you can see the ink drops because it's like a 5 picoliter printer whereas the Canons and Epsons use smaller picoliter drops. I've looked and looked and I can't see them. To me, they are beautiful prints. This generation HP printers are supposed to be more frugal using ink, but the cartridges are smaller, but they are cheaper, and on and on. Alls i know is if you really start digging into the specs and reviews to try to get the best printer for your money, you'll never get one:-).
IMHO this is the bottom line: all the newer generation printers (HP, Canon, and Epson) will give you awesome prints BUT if you do a lot of photo printing and want the best prints each one will do, you're gonna pay for the paper and especially the ink. Boy, do they get you for the ink.
