It's the better long term investment considering prices as of right now. For about $70 you're basically getting an entire second processor compared to the cheaper one. While multile core performance certainly is not linear, neither is the price increase. Also, thanks to the consoles being multi core architectures scaling is improving with each new game and engine. So if you plan on having this processor for over a year and a half, maybe longer, it is a much better purchase IMO.
