Picked up a new vid card today...
So I picked up a Evga 8800 GTS 512mb card earlier today.
They are going for 369.99 but match the 8800 GTX and Ultra speeds in most benchmarks that are under 1900x1200 and are not using max AA settings. That is not too shabby considering it is around half the cost of the 8800 Ultra cards and easily 100+ dollars less than a 8800 GTX.
I also was able to easily crank the speeds of the card from the factory ones to match Asus's over clocked version at 740mhz core, 1800mhz shader, and 2070mhz memory speeds keeping the temps down under 65C under full load using the ATITool stress test.
So far I am pretty happy with the card. I have not really got to test it out in a ton of games on the new memory settings but I hope to later on this week.
I upgraded from a 7800GT 256mb card so it was about time for me.
If anyone is thinking of getting a new video card this is definitely a good one to consider. Plus Evga has a 90day step up program where you can change cards and pay the difference. This is a very attractive program considering there are rumors that Nvidia will be releasing their next chip set design the 2nd week of February 2008.
School is also out so I hope to see all of you more often until my break is up in January.
