Actually there are some map packs out that some people have built to eliminate the downloading. The only problem I have with that is if its custom maps and they arent finished and you get the map pack if someone doesn't name the map correctly after a new version you get stuck with the wrong version and have to delete the map and download it anyway. The best thing to do is find a server that uses bsp zip files for download. Steam client already has a built in decoder to unzip the file as you download it and it takes half the time to get the files when the map loads.

Only thing is the server admin has to do a little more work to set it up but its not that hard. We are doing that on our server and it makes it much easier to deal with when someone releases a new version of a map.

For know impy since the game is still what I consider new just wait and see you will start seeing more Map packs aval.

Also when they do this next patch release you might wanna consider removing some of the maps seeing how they may or maynot be as compatible with the new game structure. Not that they won't work but the map devs will probably have to update there .bsp files to handle some of the new cvars that will be applied when the new update comes out. Mostly it will be housekeeping detail like time clocks and stuff that will have to be implemented better. I'm tired of map makers who don't know how to use global entities to start and stop maps on a timer or win flag.

Anyhow... Just a little FYI
