Comcast launches 50Mbps broadband... for $150 per month

"Comcast has been promising that DOCSIS 3.0 goodness would be coming to its customers this year, and the cable giant is about to make good. Starting tomorrow, Comcast's new "extreme high-speed" Internet tier will be available to subscribers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, including Hudson, Wisconsin. Download speeds will top out at 50Mbps while uploads will be capped at 5Mbps." ... more

Sounds great, but at what point is this overkill?
I doubt half the sites I visit can pump their crap
to me fast enough to make a difference, and torrents
will still be throttled (I assume). Google and Microsoft
have big pipes, but will a search page result coming
back faster than the current time of 0.3 seconds, or the
rare file download from MS be worth it?
