Farewell Black Nova...Game 2

The Falcon Trade Alliance was overwhelmed by our enemies, and it was futile to continue. Dynadax was a force that couldn't be defeated. Good job... I was pretty much playing a game of hide and seek. hehe I felt like a terrorist..

I'll be looking forward to the next one, using the things I've learned. Had lots of fun.........now to get some sleep...

you are part of an alliance, your allies can help you out as well, why did you self destruct with 200k in points? that means you still had cash.... plus im sure that mimic has alot of money, probably close to 1-2 quintillion

Sorry I quit Dynamic, but I was tired. It probably wasn't the right game etiquite. I won't do it again. I hope I didn't dissapoint you. You were on a roll. You were doing a teriffic job covering the map. I really had to work hard to keep from getting trapped. Hehe, you almost had me once, thanks for the EWD. That was fun, but I was so tired I just couldn't keep up with it.

Actually, I spent most all of my bank balance to tech up to level 45 in Beams and Shields just to damage you a little as you removed my planets. My other techs were lower. I didn't have enough cash to die and tech up to a level that would have been close enough to even take on your sector defenses or planets with you at level 48. So I sent what little cash I had left to Dr. K. If I had Dr. K online with me, we might have been able to hold our own for a little while, but the end was inevitable, and I would rather spend the time on the next game. I figured that if I left the game, you would have eventually found me and it would have been over anyway.

It would have been fun if I was at an equal tech level, would have made things much more interesting.

I wasn't able to consult with my other Alliance members Dr. K. and Drakken, so I hope they weren't too pi$$ed at me leaving. Hope they understand after reading this treatise.

Makes it tough to play the game when only one or two people are on at a time. You get picked off while you are offline, and come back in the next logon to find yourself naked at sector zero.

I'm just a newbie, but it seems to me that this would be much more interesting if tech levels were capped, say at 40, and somehow get alliance team members online together to make combat more interesting.
Also, when you die, all your planet tech levels drop, and makes for some quick losses from attacks on your banking planets, especially when you are offline. Too bad the sectors/planets can't be configured with their own tech levels chosen by the owner alliance. That way you can protect your interests a little longer. Also when your ship is destroyed, a percentage of you bank balance should be removed. When one player or alliance gets overwhelming wealth, its almost impossible to defend yourself. I'm just expressing my opinion here. This game has been very successful in its existing format, who am I to criticize.

I guess this is a configuration listed below, in my opinion that would be playable with alliance members that have to come and go. (We do have real lives, don't we)

1. Cap Tech levels
2. When a player is offline, have a safe zone to park his ship. The sectors/planets may be vulnerable, but at least you can pick up where you left off with your ship. Of course this could lead to problems with people running to the safe zone when online to avoid damage. Gonna depend on the integrity of the players.
3. Have a brief, scheduled period of empire building with no attacks allowed. Allows people, especially newbies get on their feet and have a fighting chance.
4. Anybody else have any ideas.
5. What do the bots actually do? Seems like once the fighting begins, they should be turned loose with a vengence. I never encountered Level 45 Botil once. Do they build and maintain planets and form alliances?
6. If none of this is dooable, or not desired by the seasoned players, I'm fine with that and will play it in any configuration Soul likes/wants.

I really enjoy this game, and it can get very addicting from a time standpoint. I have no complaints or any hard feelings the way this last game played out. After all, I play for fun and fun I had.

Once again, sorry for quitting. I shoulda just parked the ship and taken my chances again today.

I'm starting to ramble. This old body can't take those 24hour stints anymore.

Yeah I stopped playing too. I lost 15 planets in 2 days and all the rest have been scanned, so I destoyed them all to keep them from falling into the hands of the enemy. According to the log, 1 planet of mine destroyed Dynamic's ship like 3 times and he was able to come back and finsh off the sector. I just went and attacked fighters so I could try something. I had a bunch of credits on my ship and when I started over in sector 0, they were all still there. I think they all should have been lost right?

Any money you have deposited in IGB is safe. Even aftter you are destroyed, assuming you have an escape pod.
If you got enough money, like Dynadax, you just tech up again and away you go.

I had deposited most of my remaining assets in IGB after Dyna's first attack, where he didn't take it all right then. It just wasn't enough alone to allow me to tech up to his level. The IGB account doesn't gain in value like it does on a banking planet.

What we should have done as an alliance, and I should have discussed this with you when you were online is to transfer enough credits to one of us from the other in a IGB bank transfer to allow one of us to tech up to Dynadax level so we had a chance to take him on. If all three of us had been online, You, me, and Dr. K, we probably had enough resources to tech up two of us and then just might have been able to make some headway.

The Alliance is about teamwork and pooling resources, and I didn't do it very well. Lesson learned.

Before my last battle, where I tried a different kind of attack on one of Dyna's planets (which didn't work), I transferred my bank balance to Dr. K. (since he had the most resources, and had a chance to tech up) so he could continue if he desired. Since I was sitting naked at sector zero with no cash, I committed Hoot Gibson. Unfortunately I didn't think about it too much, and I destroyed the alliance. My bad.

If I have read the various threads correctly, I think Soul's intentions on these first coupla games is for us to get our feet wet, and allow the newbies to this game like me make the mistakes and learn from them.

I think he has some additional features coming on the next round, that maybe he would explain to us.

When you get into a game like this the first time you are fighting battles on two fronts. First learning how the game works, and playing the game's angles to your advantage (no, not cheating), and taking what you have learned from that and then use this knowledge to form stratagies to take on the other human opponents.

I am working on getting the "Red Nova" patch plus the "World Cup" patch working, but have run into a few issues. They add features like a chat box that has both alliance and pulbic chat. Real space moves off teh front page, instead of clicking other.

There are various fixes in it, which is odd since the mod is broke atm, but one of the is organics, you are supposed to need your colonists to produce organics and if you don't have enough they starve and die. Current game this is broke in, but I think adds something to it.

We can change the price factor on things which will slow the tech level as well as the game pace down. We will need to find the right settings. Through trying to get this new game up, I have found another one that is based of off it that shows promise.

More to come...

it is mainly my fault , im sorry i ruined the fun for all yall.... meh, i was really hoping you would log off lol, i wanted to go to bed!!!! i had work 3 hours from when you died.... lol, I actually would have gone to bed earlier, but i saw that you started attacking my allies, and that i could not let go .
I warned you guys to not attack my allies ... but nOOOOOOOO....haha. i am surprised no1 has tried to hit my bank planet yet, i know that mimic is going to when he comes out of his hermit shell with lots of money though, lol

This is actually only my second time playing this game, once was back on the old forum... that was a fun time as well. Dont worry, you didnt ruin my fun, all except theres no one taking planets anymore , i have nothing to attack, just waiting for the inevitable attack from mimic.... although gman you have 500mil points still, you must have money banked....

In the top right hand corner of your screen, it gives you the sector space detail, and you can also make it so that sectors that you own, you cannot get your ship attacked while its in orbit...thats why i started taking drakken's planets like crazy, he was in that sector, i wanted to hit his ship

LOL Dynamic. I was thinking the same thing why doesen't he log off.???? If I you had done that, honestly I would have quit attacking and gone to bed myself. I should have said something. Luckily I didn't have to work.

You didn't ruin anything for me in the game. I learned alot, especially about how not to get caught. I look forward to playing again.

Maybe that setting in sector defense that has allow attacking needs to be set off in the sectors you own...and this protects your ship. hmmmmmmmmmm. Another lesson learned.

I don't know why there is any credits left on my ship after self-destruct, I transferred everything to Dr. K before my last ill fated attack.
After self destruct, the game gives you a chance to come back, and says it gives you some money to get started back with. Maybe that's where the credits come from. I'll see if I can resurrect my ship and see what resources are on it.
