BF2 Scoring

Okay, this game is seriously pissing me off with the way it does scoring.

I just got done playing Kirkland as the USMC.

Starting at about 130 - 135, the MEC winning, we the USMC claimed 4 of the 7 flags, and from then on went back and forth with 4 or 5 flags, NEVER having the smaller amount of flags. Some how we managed to loose by 20 points. I'm a bit confused on how the hell this happens.

How much points do you lose for losing a flag? How much do you get for capture? How does the majority of flags you have effect your score? And how the hell can something like said happen?

ok I might be off a little on this but there is more then one way to lose tickets... Its not just flag caps. Deaths Kills and Teamwork points add to it.

Example #1 Map X each side has its main base Uncap-able. That means that each side doesn't automatically get a handicap in ticket count. from that point its who caps and kills the most..

Example #2 Karkand- US side has Handicap because it has an Un-capable and MEC doesn't. This means first off to win not only do you have to have a good bunch of Kills. You need to Get more then 90% of the Flags. I read once(I believe) on the forums that karkand, If you didn't fight and was just to cap flags US had all but 1 flag they would still loose. That's not taking into account the fighting and teamwork you normally see.
I'd love to hear anyone else that has more on this. I might be off but this is the little I am going with from the tons of hours I've already put into the game

Makes sense. Thanks Mac.

Kinda makes me mad on how this works. Its especially hard to educate some players on what to do. Most will go out of their way to get flags that simply dont matter, suburbs for example in Kirkland.

I tried telling my team to push train accident and gatehouse to take out there main vehicles, leave suburbs, since we had several still at hotel and squard. But it never failed, as soon as suburbs went down to neutral from a single MEC rouge, we lost 5 of our players at Train accident to that stop, meaning the rest at train died because they were out numbered.

This is often compounded by a commander who doesnt tell his squad leaders where they should really be going, or really probably doesnt have a clue on how the scoring system works.

Thanks Mac, you confirmed what I thought was happening.

well, we're on pubs. you're right on strats chem, but I think most ppl are looking for kills, not wins. I know from being commander i can see a WHOLE lot more and rarely have squads...IF PPL EVEN GET IN THEM go where WE need them.

IMO this game would be played properly at it's best in competition.

Not sure of te scoring but i know that if you dont hve an uncappable base you tickets reduce slower than the team that does since they can always respawn.

Yes, it makes the game unplayable to me unless I'm playing with friends.

In CS:S if my team sucks I can at least bet on my own skills to take out three or so on the other team, but in BF2 my kills mean nothing, so I'm in constant motion trying to yell at someone to go here, another to go there, etc.

But in the end you're right MT, it seems to me in BF2, a heavily team game, your fellow players care more about themselves than any other I've played.

I noticed that you had a -23 team score on Clean Sweap, thought that was rather funny.
