please post IF you have used voip SUCCESSFULLY and what your mic/headphone setup is. i.e. combo head&mic or standalone each, usb etc.

I have a logitech usb headset/mic combo. voip doesnt work.

vent does though.

Yes, in a number of games with a number of different setups.

CS:S, BF2, and others in fact. With at least 4 different headphones, two mics, and three sound cards. All worked.

In fact, the only time when I couldnt get VOIP to work was in BF2 when it was a server side issue (no one else in the server could use it, I'd try a different server and it'd work.)

are you using onboard sound?

MT's using a Sound Blaster X-Fi. Which I use to own and VOIP indeed does work with it.

Mic test doesnt even work. I also have a combo set that plugs into card and the BF2xxx sound test worked but not in-game.

i could try the onboard, but i'd hate to junk out that X-FI card

MT, do you happen to have an NForce 4 motherboard? Have you upgraded to the latest X-Fi drivers?

asus k8v, not sure on latest drivers. but it never worked in bf2 either.

Odd, you shouldnt be having any conflicts then as far as hardware (NForce 4 chipsets and X-Fi are known to hate each other) and I've never heard of any issues with other hardware.

I'd check out the Creative website and downloaded the latest drivers, it just might help. Other than that I really have no clue what could be causing your issue. I'm fairly certain it shouldnt be your sound card that's causing the issue and certainly not your mic. As I use a Logitech mic and it works just fine (and it wouldnt make sense anyway) and like I said my X-Fi worked wonderfully with BF2 VOIP.

YEEHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st off. i had to ditch the usb headset and use the one that you plug the mic/head into the card. and then in volume controls i had to mute the mic and unmute line-in. IT WORKS in-game now

Also, whenever i picked the x-fi option in bf2 or 2142 it always said incompat hardware. wtf, it's an x-fi extreme gamer card. but after d/l LATEST drivers i can now use that option...omfg it's awesome sounding. (thx chem)
