i assume you use virus scan software? that takes up more resources than this thing and i havnt gotten a virus yet. not saying this takes the place of virus software, but i must be doing something right...not many people can go to tech w/o virus scan and come back without having to format

With a map fully loaded I opened up Task Manager and looked at RAM ussage, BF2 was using 800MB, talk about a RAM whore. I thought CS:S was bad at 600MB. I've heard many getting huge performance improvments when breaking the 1GB barrier, I might look into buying a 1GB stick some time in the feature.

Nope actually this box runs minimal stuff.
Windows XP is stripped down to bare necessities... no additional software except PuTTY suite, Mozilla and a Picture compression tool for the digi camera. Everything else is game related. I manually run spyware checks and Web based AV software.
I want all the resources I can get. It may suck up that amount of mem, try, but resources entail more than mem. I've watched Norton, Mcafee, and zonealarm kill network throughput....

w/e, it works, and it produces no visible slowdown like norton used to do, starts right up without having to load a million things, etc
and dutch, real life friends have never heard of xfire and if they had, they wouldnt use it...i used to play sof fullscreen all the time but i lost touch with a lot of friends that i never saw but talked to online all the time and i dont want to do that again

I'm in the same camp as Lopo, no firewall, no virus software. Never had a problem.

Why do you need minimize? It's funny I never really heard of people doing that until late in SOF2 when I found out many of my clanmates ran windowed mode to respond to IMz.
I just think that is weird, put an away message up and go focus on playing.
