Nvidia, suckin sweaty nut sack like always.
Because he'd have to buy a new motherboard then too, and possibly a new CPU along with that.

eeeh.... I haven't seen anything with CPU support, but one can assume as long as he has a newer P4/AMD chip he'll be fine since the Xpress 200 will support both.

My point was, that if he had the cash to drop on a dual 6800 system, then why not go for the better implementation. Wow, throw in the mobo.... $125 * Canadian factor.

:-p

An SLI or Xpress 200 "Crossfire" edition mobo will cost more than $125, even USD for that matter.

The Nforce 4 is generally a better chipset too, and doesnt have southbridge issues like the Xpress 200 does. Also, the next few releases of the Forceware (that is the worst name ever) drivers are being made to improve SLI performance, remove the bottleneck and also make manufactor differences a non-issue.

Also, he could simply buy a 7800GTX, get more features and just nearly the same performance as a SLI or Crossfire system. Or he could settle for a 6600GT now and wait a month or so for the R520 which will own the 7800s *** in everything. I'd recommend the latter.

Motherboards supporting the CrossFire platform are expected to cost in the $100 range, and when the company moves to 110nm production, its entry level Radeon Xpress 200 series motherboards should be priced in the $50 range, the sources pointed out.

thanx for the links, much to consider but a new proc isnt one of them the A64 4000 better last me 4 years minimum of quality performance but we'll see ... Actually, my original choice was on X800XLs but I was regrettably comnvinced that since GeForce would be using the same chipset and everything else, I could epect some increase from that; I have learned too much about video cards since I bought my system and the more I learn, the more I regret my choice of card .... and of course the board now too. Should gona with my original system I had in mind, all Asus and ATi *sighs oh well, really this system isnt even being remotely tested yet so I should save my regrets for the first time I get chop in a game

P.S. The video card I really wanted to run 2 of was the (mind blank on name) that they're throwing in the xbox2 oooooo man did that thing ever blow mine apart when I was going thru the specs

The Xbox 360s architecture is what we'll see on the PC in 2006/early 2007. It brings parallism to the very for front, each pipeline does both pixel and vertex work, unlike now where we have seperate units that do each. Each pipeline will be fully dynamic and allows effects way beyond what we have now. The Xenos/C1 is what the core is called and it is a true peice of amazing computer enineering. Funny thing is that its possible now, and Nvidia's RSX in the PS3 is only going to be a higher clocked 7800GTX, which is not that impressive when you consider its a year away still. The Xbox360 has FAR more graphics power than the PS3. You can expect the Nintendo Revolution and Xbox 360 to have very simliar hardware designs, hell there's word that Nintendo's Revolution could be more powerful than even the 360.

EDIT: Almost forgot the link to a great article on the Xenos and Xbox 360's graphics core: http://www.beyond3d.com/articles/xenos/
