Lol, Lopo's just got it out for Nvida, dont really know why.
The code is not that great really. There's still tons of issues within it, of course the first BF had possibly the crappiest code ever for a popular game.
Support for cards running Pixel shader 1.1 could have been easily tossed in and with surprisngly good performance too, but it was easier for them not to, and it allowed Nvidia to push more current units actually (Nvida actually sponsors BF2).

blah 5/6 yrs worth of programming on a game, "code stolen", blown release dates, etc vs. 2 years of development and a single date not blown, but pushed back and announced way in advanced.
Sorry, HL2 was pretty and I was excited about it.... but I wasn't that impressed with the game, especially for how long it took.
They could've thrown the 1.1 support in Chem? really, please link me to that information.

Its already there actually for the most part Lopo, that's why you can simply tweak the shader code a bit and get the game to be played. A simple Direct X tweak can even fix it for the most part. Sadly, the game devolper's realize there mistake and full lazyiness already and are banning those who want to play that use the shader mod. A patch that wouldnt even be that big could fix this, or a release of the source code and a few run throughs could allow some smart coders to get a proper "converter" basically of the code going.

I have to ask Chem, when did you become so knowledgeable of the coding of BF2? If it was that easy it most likely would've been done, or your other theory could be right on, that Nvidia had a deal with EA to not support it so that they could push more cards. Nevertheless
You've repeatedly stated that the "hack" doesn't fix it properly, ever thought that maybe their implementation/use of shaders, not necessarily (although that's the easiest to blame) is the problem and might not be backwards compatible?
