Tip: anti-aircraft gun

I am still using the demo, but here goes anyway...

I want to defend using the anti-aircraft gun. I see that if I hold it for a second on a target, I get the audio and some kind of heads up indicator. When I fire, sometimes it seeks the target and sometimes not. Are there any tips on using this?

For airplanes it is tough to shoot them down.. because they move pretty fast.. They will know that someone has a lock on them and can use turbo to move faster than your missles.. Helicopters are easier to target but you need to shoot when they are in a good range or the missles will ver away or miss them completely..

The missles are heat seaking ones so on one map there are alot of towers with flames on the top so it is harder to lock on.. Once you have them locked on.. I find it is much easier to follow if you can the target with the crosshairs this will alot of times keep the missles following your target...

Does it make sense to lead them or to try to keep the crosshairs on them after launch?

haha yes helps if you lead them, also watch how hard they are turning if they are turning hard, might be better to wait for a better opportunity.

For me both are right.. Right before you shoot lead'em.. then once they are in the air.. lock on them and stay on them.. even if you can't see them.. I have torched a few that thought they got away..

Speaking of which I got a punishment for a TK because I shoot down a helo and the fool that was trying to fight them with a machine gun was right underneath so when the helo was shoot down it landed right on top of killing him thus giving me a TK.. ooppss so sorry was trying to protect me flag..

Remember, once u got a lock, fire as many as u can (depending on weapon u are using). the target can always fire flares to distract your missle lock. If you have any ducks or geese, throw them into the air at this time. If you miss the target, his flares will cook your foul and you will have a nice dinner.

If its a land to air gun.. you only have 2 shots per round.. which means you gotta wait 20 seconds or so for it to reload .. for some players in airplanes that is more than enough time to circle and do a strafing run at ya..

Just give it up. Stick to blowing up tanks. I take that back, I shot down a helicopter with a sniper rifle.(Highlight of my day) I was so stoked until it landed on me. :/
