Paying for the DvT Server

I got the following email from Hawk today:

thought I would let you know that I checked out the balance and found a (-17.95) balance there. Decided to go ahead and pull us out of the hole.
Deposited $125.65. That should cover the negative plus six months.

kewl then.

To which I replied:

JezzzusChrist on a crutch, Hawk. That was way overboard. Mucho appreciated, but way overboard.

However, for future reference, the balance shown is the amount we OWE them. A zero balance means we are current; a plus balance means we owe them money (and the server has probly been disabled...hasn't happened so far); a minus balance means we are paid ahead. The -17.95 was there because Reckless sent that in a couple of days ago. If you go look now, you will see that the balance is now -$143.60.

Soooo ... the server is now paid up until January 21, 2008 --- if I counted it up on my fingers correctly.

Ok, that last paragraph of my reply probly shouldn't have been in the email to him, but rather should have been this paragraph ... I was already thinking in terms of posting the email here.

Anyway, now you should all understand how the $ thing is shown and what it means if/when you go to the server ClanPay webpage.

Hopefully, the $17.95 that Hawk "overpaid" due to misunderstanding what the numbers meant won't cause him to go hungry.

Hex do you know if it's possible for Hawk to get some of his $$$ refunded or perhaps check to ensure we can apply the credit balance to a UT3 server if/when that game comes out.

Hopefully UT3 will be AWESOME and our desire to have a 2K4 server will be non-existent.

I'll look into it. My best guess is that with some hassle a partial refund would be possible, but I'm not sure. If Hawk used a credit card, which I imagine he did, I don't see why reversing part of the CC charge would be a big deal...it would depend upon company policy.


I have posted the Q about converting UT2004 servers to UT3 servers in the host's (GameServers.com) Unreal Tournament forum.

I would hope the same about UT3. However, there are certain members of DvT who are of the conservative persuasion who prefer the old ways...raw meat, rather than cooked, sleeping in and shitting from trees, rather than beds and toilets, respectively...

Since you already have our Maps page in your Favorites, the simple link is at the very bottom that page. ...and, yes, click, scroll, click qualifies as simple.

I used my "In God We Trust" Master Card but I think Paypal only works with the "Librul Bank " so that prolly explains why it didn't go through.
