My first character was a feral druid. I can commiserate with you on the issue of blizzard not having a plan for your class. Soloed him to 60 then roled a new main character, choosing another class that was horribly gimped and weak: a warlock (and once again, the class I was playing received a mega-buff right around the time I hit 55).

On the subject of hunters, I always found it very amusing when hunters would complain about warlock pets (and I say that with some insight, having played a hunter to 60 as well).

At current pace you won't need to hope. I'm not sure either team has the goods to make a trade that can improve their chances post-All Star Game .
