After all, this group of people would not have the time to be on a boat together until sometime after January 20, 2009, at which time Hillary and Obama will comprise the top two positions of the Executive Branch of the government.

I have come to the conclusion that the current state of affairs is analogous to that in Russia in about 1916-1917:

...in a war nobody thinks we should be fighting and the economy is in the shitter. The economy is the real point though.

It has, as expected, taken a while but Reaganomics is coming home to roost. When money is flowing in the top and trickling out the bottom, Reaganomics is working as planned.

When I was in high school, the only billionaire on the planet was J. Paul Getty. Everyone else with money was a millionaire. Now, billionaires are a dime a dozen. IOW, the royalty has increased its worth by a factor of about 1000. OTOH, when I was in high school the minimum wage was about $1.25/hr; now it is a little less than $6/hr...the peasants have increased their income by about a factor of 5 ... and gasoline costs about 10 time more than back then.

I have come to essentially the same conclusion that the Russians did: the royal family and court has to go. Lenin was a monster and Stalin was even worse, but they were better than the Russian royalty. Dubya and his Republican cronies are not Russian royalty, but neither Obama nor Clinton are Lenin or Stalin, however, like Lenin and Stalin, they are better than what we've got.

What I cannot understand is how the Republican leadership can hoodwink so many people into thinking that they have anyone's interest at heart other than the top 1% of the economic ladder. "As long as we can get rich 200 times (1000/5) faster than the peons do, all is good." You wanna guess where the money in their bank accounts is coming from? Hint: the peons...you and me.

If any of you think any politician is in it for anything but to make themselves money, then you are truely in a dream world. The Dem. are no better than the Rep. and the president is a figure head with very little true power. As long as it cost millions of $$$ to get elected then the rich will be in control and for the soul purpose of making themselves richer and that is both Reps and Dems.

I would be the last one to argue that point with you MA.

However, whether they like it or not, once elected they do find themselves in the uncomfortable position of actually doing things, every now and then, that has the effect of doing something other than enriching themselves...altho it may do that too.
