Sound Card Issues

Game: Battlefield 2142
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Extreme Music
Problem: After the opening movie sound no longer works, going into the sound settings shows incorrect settings, including xfi not being selected. When selecting the correct settings a message appears stating that the selections are not compatible with your hardware. Playing the game from there on out will have the correct sound, but after quiting the game and relaunching all the settings will be gone.

Solution: Problem is related to the Creative Audio Console program. Open this program and select the Mode tab and choose Game Mode and then click on Close. Restart BF2142 and set your sound options as you like. The error message will no longer appear and the settings will stick.
