Night Trip To Atlanta's Centennial Park

Would love to hear your feedback!!!

CNN Sees The Light II

CNN Sees The Light I

Thought this was an eerie looking shot..it turned out prety well except the wind blowing caused the trees to blur a bit.

One of my friend taking photos.

This was a very touchy feely young couple who were dancing inside one of the fountain rings. I used a slower exposure to show their movement and keep them blurred.

Oh. I meant to say.. all the exposures were in the 20 to 30 second range..except for the teenagers dancing in the water..that one was 5 secs..

Edit: These were also all taken within about 100 yards from where the "Atlanta Olympic" blast went off during the 96 olympics.

i tried thinking of something other than awesome to say since everyone else used it already, but it's all i can think of right now so: awesome dude. the lightning ones were done very well, the colors are so crisp and alive. but is it just me or is the picture bending a little bit? i dont mean crooked, it's like the picture has a slight upside down U thing going on. maybe its me. how'd you do the blurring effects? those were cool

There is some slight distortion/bending as I was using a wide angle lens. I'm not great at correcting lens distortion

The blurring in the shots is from things moving during the long exposures. The couple dancing moved that much in 5 secs..all the other shots were 20 or 30 second exposures at f16. The trees at the street blurred due to the wind blowing.

Smiley..the colors came out almost that vivid. I shot the images in RAW then processed them for Tungsten lighting. I adjusted contrast and saturation a bit...but not very much. Those long exposures really let the colors come through.

Thanks for the comments.. I have some more I'll work on tonight and post.

I have one question that wasn't asked yet. What time at night was this?

I've been wanting to do some lightning pics but never seem to have my camera handy at the right times, not too mention I shoot film and it can get expensive.

Also, give me the details on your wide angle lens please.

Pretty cool Varm. I really like that you go to capture the lightning, but you can see the negative effects of having your shutter open for so long. Makes the overall picture feel a bit odd. Though I still really like them.

Time of night..hmm...We shot from dusk until 10pm or so.. The lightning shots and the street were probably taken around 8:30 or 9pm during the thunderstorm.

As far as the wide angle lens used... I used either a the Canon Kit lens 18 - 55m.. or my Tamron 28-300. I think most of those were the Tamron lens.. Not the best glass in the world but when you are holding the shutter open that long..and have that much potential for movement..does that really matter?

What negative effects chem other than the wind blurring... that shot of the path isn't feasible to take under any other conditions than a long exposure and neither would the lightning pics? The other shots.. I wanted blur.. thats why I was out for long exposure night photography
