Want me to help you source a used Rebel or Rebel XT? I've seen used Rebels for ~$450 and I currently found a used one with:

Rebel manual
Canon Li-ion battery
Wall charger
Canon 18-55
Canon 75-300mm 4-5.6 USM III
Canon RC-1 wireless remote + manual
DLC hot shoe adapter
Tenba camera bag P107

For $750.

Aye, it's a good kit for the money, but I will admit that the 18-55mm and the 75-300mm are not exceptional lenses. The 18-55mm is the standard kit lens and the 75-300mm is the standard consumer zoom, with an emphasis on standard. But if you're seriously strapped for cash it's a good value.
