I remember finding this a while back and getting excited about it. Unfortunately, it was a scam. I believe it's the same with Poetry.com.
You enter your picture and no matter what it looks like, you get a letter in the mail saying that your picture was selected to be published in their book and entered for the big prize. Then they ask you to pay $75 for the book so you can see it published. If you pay it, they publish your picture and you get the book. If you don't pay it, your picture actually is NOT put in the book. It's basically one of those "too good to be true" things. However, there are a lot of legit contests that can be found on the web. You might want to check your local news TV station websites because a lot of those will have contests. I know ours had one going for a while and I won a couple times - no amazing cash prizes or anything but I got some gift certificates and my pictures on TV
