Favorite season! (big pics)

As you guess Mittens, fall is by far my favorite season. I get too hot in the summer, winter is fun for a while and then it gets blah. Spring is a close second but I get antsy waiting for the trout to wake up and the flowers to bloom!

I'm lucky to have grown up (and live) where fall is such a cool season. Here is one of my favorite fall shots. Combined image taken in one of my secret hiking spots.

I'll dig up a few more later.

That pic is actually a multi-image photo (a panorama turned sideways). I don't remember if it's 3 or 4 photos stitched together. The orignial is about 4x that size.

Since I don't (yet) have a nice SLR camera with a wide angle lens this is how I make up for it. It's great for taking high res pictures, photographing a scene with severe light balance problems or capturing something that has a strange profile. I use panorama tools and PT assembler. Most panorama programs just try to guess how the photos go together but PT assembler allows you to pick specific "control points" in each photo that, if the source pictures are taken properly, lets you make a seamless composite picture. It also adjusts for the curvature of the camera lens too. Pretty easy to use but you have to be very careful when taking source pics. If they're not all exposed the same it's hard to get them to go together well.

Very nice colors you have there and I really like seeing the trail in it, but the more impressive thing to me is the method you took to get your final pic. I probably would have never thought about making a vertical composition of this scene. That took insight. And then having to piece each pic together to get the what we see now. Bravo!
