Sad Sad Day for me.......

I was cleaning an overhead shelf in our closet and was pulling some clothes down.... wouldn't you freaking know it. I accidentally bumped my camera bag on that shelf and it dropped 7 foot to the floor.

So I open up the bag... sure enough... my Nikon FE2 body was broken around the bayonet fitting for the lens. Like a dumba$$ I left the 70/210 lens attached to it and that's what caused it. If I had taken it off like I normally do it probably would not have happened.

I really loved my FE2. I bought it over seas in Saudi Arabia when I worked over there in 84 - 87. Nothing was wrong with it and it was in great condition. It seen allot of Europe, Mideast and Asia.... only to be done in by a drop from a shelf. I am so ticked off about it.

Don't suppose anyone knows where I can get an FE2 body... cheap

There will never be another Camera like her.....

Thanks Hakko, u did more than is required of you. I actually did start scouring ebay after I posted. The prices aren't to bad.....

the lens bayonet was bent a little but I am gonna have a camera shop look at it and see if it's fixable and make sure nothing else is wrong with it.

I gotta say. I am glad this forum is here. There was a time when I was heavily into photography. I have tons of slides that I took both land and underwater. I also have a Nikonos V that I used when I did alot of diving. I started scanning in my slides a few years back and kind of stopped. I think this forum will revive some of that.

Your welcome.

I'm really surprised at how high some of these FE2's are still going for. I believe I saw one going for $300 or so.

For me I liked the ability of having both automatic and manual. At the time I bought it it was the only one with a shudder speed of 1/4000. Also, TTL flash metering became available. The pictures that it would take were just fantastic. Especially slides. I have 5 lenses and the MD12 motor drive for mine.

I read an article where the guy said that the FE2 is going for as much as it did years ago.

I miss my completely manual pentax that i bought off a shipmate of mine in 1992. I had left it in my car when we got back to port along with some music and a meerschaum pipe I bought in Turkey (i did all forims of tobacco at the time). I loaned my car to Stoney so he could pick up a hooker and the next day I found my window down and the items stolen.

the pipe was very nice. it was an claw holding the pipe. very much like this here
