Good question Smiley !

At first, I thought it was referring to High Definition,
but then I realized it's High Dynamic Range lighting
like is currently used in popular video games (like
the Lost Coast that was released for HL2)

High dynamic range imaging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gotcha, I thought it might be related to "tone-mapping". Some of the images in that Wiki article are not tone-mapped and are taken with a special HDR lense, they don't look as computer generated as the tone-mapped examples, they look very crisp.

Well, I'm sure the image Dudio linked to IS tone mapped. It's a key component to High Dynamic Range pictures. CS3 does it and programs like PhotoMatrix do it.
Basically you bracket your exposures in a particular shot, typically 3 to 5 exposures from one to two stops under to the same over. This way you get detail in the shadows and detail in the highlights, then you run them through a HDR program like PhotoMatrix which tone maps them and produces the HDR image.
