I'll tell ya what pictures I like and my observations.

Flower pictures.. all of them. I'm a sucker for good macro pics of flowers.

Nail - OK. can't really explain why but i have noted something. it is slightly out of focus. perhaps needed to move back a couple of cm.

main strip2 - i like the converging lines at the far end. Laura has an excellent example of this with her railroad pic. I think this might have been better if the shadows of the trees were also going down the strip instead of to the sides.

goose diving - i like the timing here. I find it hard to do. How many shots did you take before you got this?

gargoyles - just because they are awesome to look at.

bridge across lake - Did you notice the reflection of the bridge? the reflection of the bridge shows the iron grating better than the bridge itself. THis is why i find it so interesting to look at. The bars in the reflection are so easy to see, but when you look at the bridge you can see the bars as well. just damn neato!

can - similiar to the nail picture but entirely in focus now. I like the shadows and textures. perhaps can be used as a statement for construction pollution or something (pollution = litter left on ground)

I saw a lot that looked out of focus, might want to work on that.

Did anything i said help? Hope so.

focusing i need to work on, i know. i've yet to figure out the manual focus and don't like reading manuals. that and some of them it was just too bright to see if it was in focus or not. like with the seagulls the sun was right in front of me, maybe 30 degrees high

as for the goose, i think i got it on the first shot. they were a little slow. and im the same way with flowers, i love taking macros of em

knowing now what model you have I have some more suggestions Insane.

You have iso ratings of 100 to 400. for outdoor, full light situations, use the lower number. Also, your macro range seems to go to a minimum of 20 cm, meaning anything closer might not focus.

Use a tripod when you can for slower shots.

Stick with autofocus unless you can't get it to focus on the subject intended.

that's all for now

**** i forgot i could change my iso ratings! damnit! don't have a tripod, least not a light, easy to use one. and now i need to find a ruler with metric so i know what 20cm looks like.

thanks buddy
