Just a few vacation pics

We were in South Dakota, visited the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, the Mammoth dig and several other things while in the area.

They are in my album:

They're just vacation shots, but there are a few that are not too bad in my (very unprofessional) opinion.

Love the Rushmore photos! My favorite is the one of the mountain and the entrance and people. Shows how little we are. I tried to find this area on Google Earth but had no success lol. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that IT'S IMPOSSIBLE. Especially if you really don't know where it is, hehe.

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=332 - Your perspective on this ROCKS. Makes for a fine picture. I feel like I should turn around and start running!!

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=336 - I really like this picture

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=337 - Please tell me this isn't a small animal eating a larger animal's poop.

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=339 - That's so weird that you bumped into RKT while you were on vacation. :P

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=348 - WOW!! I love orchids sooo much!! I would prefer one of them for Valentine's Day over a dozen roses any day.

http://www.fragonsight.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=340 - Ahhhh! Is this a rabbit stretching or some other totally different scary-looking creature??

The picture of the woman with the baby gorilla is CUTE. The mammoth dig looks fascinating! I would just be too afraid I would step on something that's, um, fragile and important. Hehe. You've got some real nice landscape pictures in there as well!

Very nice pics, Dutch! It was a pleasure looking at them. I hope you and your family enjoyed yourselves.

Thanks for sharing your pics, Dutch. I'm just itching to go somewhere.

I, too, loved the baby gorilla. So cute. And I can just make out a baby buff in one of the herd pics. Those are awfully cute. Hard to believe they grow into that giant behemoth. I've seen some very close up (inadventently--very scary) on Catalina Island.

I've added comments to all the pics you can see by moving your mouse over the thumbnail version.

Yes Laura, that is indeed a small animal (squirrel) examining elephant droppings. I was grossed out when I first saw it but could not resist taking a picture. It was quite far away zo I had to use maximum zoom on that one, so it's kind of hard to see.

And yes it's a type of rabbit, of the desert haas variety (forget the real name, something with haas in it anyway)

The zoo pictures were taken at the Omaha zoo, the flower and parrot ones at Reptile Gardens near Keystone SD, and the buffalo ones at Custer park in SD.

BTW, Rushmore is just outside Keystone SD, south of Rapid City.
