Help! I can't install games!

Long story short. I had to reformat a little while ago. I finally started putting games back on my rig little by little. Well I was able to install Return to Castle Wolfenstein but soon found I could not install Quake 4 or Medal of Honor. In both games when I install every thing goes ok at first. I made it through the first of two disks in MOH and 3 of the 4 disks in Q4. In both games when I get to the last disk the installer asks me to insert the last disk and I do so and hit "OK". Right away I see a tiny little image of a CD pop up for a second and then I get prompted to insert the cd again. I click ok and it tells me there is no cd in the drive. I have been trying to figure out just what the hell is going on all day to no avail. In both cases if I insert the cd into the drive and try to browse while not installing there are no files on the cd.

To have this happen in two games is very strange and I am wondering if it might be some kind of copyright protection or something. FYI, these are legit games that I bought. Actuallyt zterminator gave me the MOH game, but it's a legit copy and he doesn't use it anymore. Has anybody experienced this or can you tell me why this is happening?

Might be your disk is damaged.

no, it's happening with two games. From posting the same thing on Nachos I learned that both games use the same copy protect program called safedisc.

There must be a program I have that makes safedisc block installation.

I think it may be anapod explorer but I am not sure. I paid like 30 bux for it so I don't want to uninstall. I also have kaaza lite and a few others that I don't think would be the culprits and are not among the usual suspects from my research.

Man this ****ing sucks.

I'm not doing anything illegal.

I thought it was Starforce that caused problems like that, not Safedisc.

What the heck is starforce? To tell the truth today was the first I have heard of either of them.

I'm going to give up now but I hope to play Q4 tomorow with an install from the cds I payed for that worked before I reformated.

In all my years gaming this is the absolute most suckingiest time ever because I can't even install a game I paid for.

And when I look for help I can find ways to crack the copy protect program but I can't find an honet way to fix the problem.

Spooky, I have anapod installed and it never affected any of my games being installed.

You might see if you can make iso's of the disks and mount them or just copy all of the disks contents into the same folder and install from there, have done that many of times, usualy works ok, but for playing the game still need to have the cd inserted.

Try this fix from Microsoft. It says its for Microsoft games but give it a try. Safedisc is kinda like Starforce where it checks to see if this in an original disc, its not destructive like Starforce has been known to be.
