List of things not to buy.....

I'll start this one off.
The Linksys WRT54G. Why because you can't upgrade the firmware to the latest and if you do, the current date of the router goes to Jan XX, 2006 (XX being the current day of the current month). I tried 2 brand new ones with the same results, Linksys tech support says nothing is wrong with the firmware, 2 techs claimed that the Current Time area under the Status tab is when the firmware was released, when I said don't you mean the area above that which says firmware version, they said that both areas are when the firmware was released. And with that, I leave you with this......

Funny stuff.

However, I have a Linksys WRT54G, have upgraded the firmware several times and never had a problem.

My firmware is 4.20.7. I checked the website and that is the latest version available for this router.

One thing you might want to check: if you look at the bottom of your router it will tell you the version of the router (mine: WRT54G ver 2). Maybe the firmware is different for different versions of the router? They sure all look similar.......

I had a version 5, its back at Best Buy now. Its been replaced with a Dlink one. Some other people pointed me to an old version of the firmware and it fixed the date issue, but if I tried and upgrade to the latest it kept giving me the wrong date and the PCs would get dropped from DHCP.
