MacBook Pro is on it's way!

So, work ordered me a MacBook Pro yesterday and it's on it's way. I'm looking forward to it though it also means I'll be somewhat of a bug tester. Universal binaries are coming out everyday so hopefully I wont have to use Rosetta over much. I'll post more and my thoughts when I get it

Ars Technica Review.

Should be interesting, I want to hear about the battery life with these Harb.

At least I give it to Apple for using an X1600, that thing should have amazingly nice 2D image quality.

From what I've heard so far Chem battery life on these is best described as Meh.... About the same as the current PB's, 3-4 hours during normal use. I have heard that you can turn off one of the processors which should help a lot. I'll let you know more once I get it and get a chance to test.

Can't wait to hook this puppy up to my HDTV

Turning off cores, I guess that's the sole advantage of having the two cores in two seperate dies (Intel has two dies on one package for dual core, AMD does both cores in one die on one package), because I doubt you can do that if it was just one processor die. Havent heard of that, but the Core Duo is the only dual core mobile cheap right now.

I think its fairly impressive that you can now have two cores and still maintain about the same battery life of old single core CPU's.

One thing to note, and really has nothing to do with Apple, is that I personally dont like widescreen monitors (call me weird) but they just feel so weird when I've seen them. At school we got a shipment of them in my computer class, they're smaller 19" widescreen 16:9, I perfer my old CRT in that class.

I guess because I've been using a widescreen monitor for the last 2-3 years or so they are my preference. Great for watching media content but not the best for reading documents, PDF's etc. I'd rather have a longer view in that case. I do really like the LCD monitors that you can rotate 180 degrees which gives you the best of both worlds.

Damn...I'm jealous. Keep us up to date on your findings here man. I'm curious as hell to see how these things perform.

Chem-it's funny you mention that widescreen thing. I have a widescreen TV and it's the most normal thing in the world to me. I can't stand to watch a regular one. But a monitor? Just doesn't feel right! Now I do alot of document work so like Harb said if I can rotate it thats sweet but otherwise I'm not looking to go that route for a while.
