If your getting a new TV, checkout LCD HDTV
I worked on a deal to get a customer 10 of these for their surgical room. The dealer gave me such a great deal, I got one for myself.
It's the new Sony Bravia 40" LCD HDTV 1333x768 resolution. Studying the technology, LCD > Plasma in brightness, AOA, contrast and life expectancy. Total thinkness is under 5 inches.
Hooking it up to a HDTV converter, the image quality is amazing. It also has a USB port for digital cameras, computer video port for hooking up to a PC.
It's cool to work 15 feet away with a wireless keyboard/mouse system.

I've heard very good things about the Bravia. Heck of an invest, but it sure does look nice.

I'll tell you Blong, I had a HD rear projection 50" but the box was so big and deep.
Dropping down to a 40" is a little bit of an adjustment but the picture quality and color intensity of LCD over rear projection is night and day better.
Chem, it set me back a few bucks, I got it for $2,590 with free shipping and installation. I did pay $200 for 4 year parts and labor warranty and covers blown out pixels.

If I wanted size.. I would just buy a Digital projector with HD capabilities...
My cousin has one and we watched the superbowl on an 8' screen in HD!! the picture quality was almost perfect!!
the size was amazing
the only drawback is it is a projector and you need low light to get a good picture... BUT I watch tv at night mostly and it would benifit me...
just need a big enough wall to shoot it too...

i thought projectors weren't supposed to be good, even the hd ones. we have a wall mounted 50-odd inch plasma that i'm missing dearly right now, especially with no tv at all. it's got a great picture, but on non-hd shows there are obnoxious black bars on the sides to fill in what the show doesnt, but if you stretch the picutre on that big a tv it looks like crap. can't tell from the pix if what you're saying about lcd vs plasma is true, but if you researched it i guess it would be. and in the first and third shots, is that star wars you have on there?

Nice TV RK! I've got HDTV LCD envy now! I had to go on the cheap size wise. I have a 26" Sharp Aquos. The picture is great but man you have me beat on size! I only sit about five feet from the TV though so 26" isn't too bad.

nice RKT,
I'm not a fan of LCD's because I see what's known as the 'screen door effect' and it's almost impossible for me to enjoy whatever is on the screen.
When I upgrade my 51inch HD Projection TV I will most likely go with a DLP or Plasma.
Nonetheless, nice screen and decent price too.
