Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM)
Anyone here ever use this? I have to implement it at my new job and it's a pile of ****.
We have Workgroup Ed, which means no reporting/history. LAME.
Why would you want an NMS that doesn't report......
We have 3 x MOM2005 licenses and then my boss wants to implement 2 x nagios servers for the nix boxes... I'm thinking to myself there are solutions out there that monitor both Windows and Linux, GFI NMS does this natively... and others I've used in the past.
argh. What a waste of time trying to figure this POS **** out. It's sucks soo bad, OVERKILL.... !@#$%^
/rant.

Ironically I'm wearing my HP shirt you sent me. Can you get me a job at HP? that would be fun. Any offices in the Reno/Sparks area? lol.

I chose GFI NSM over MOM, however M$ is starting to hook some nice addon tools to MOM that are looking attractive, but still not worth the $ yet.
Good luck LoPo, it takes time to be assimulated

haha Smiley.
Like everything M$ does, the MOM mgmt packs look good on paper.
Download the trials and set it up in your VM environment. Let me know what you think.
I have 3 VM's, 1 Ex2k3, 1 DC(2000 Svr), and 1 MOM 2005 box.

Nagios = monitor anything. (add on Oreon to make it purtty and simple to admin)
We have MOM here and get some nice reports out of it, but the agents are a pain in the ***.

I'm starting on the Nagios project today. Hopefully I will just get nagios to do everything and get rid of MOM. We have wkgrp ed Soul, so no purtty reports.
