Norton ghost 8 is good ... lol

ghost 10 still comes with 8, therefore 10 isnt bad, but they shoulda stuck with 8.....

as for the antivirus, AVG free is pretty good, i have also used trend micro, and like it a bit ....

Grisoft (avg) makes a good trojan removal tool called Ewido ... and the AVG tools that you can pay for are alot better than AVG Free. my friend uses AVG Network edition on his home computers , and such.

norton is a big system hog, i wouldnt reccomend it unless you are setting the computer up for someone that doesnt know what their doing.

McAffe is a pain in the *** ....

both norton and mcaffe corp editions are decent if you can get your hands on them....

bitdefender is a decent tool

some links to free/trial ware

Bitdefender
Ewido
AVG home/small office products ... trials
AVG Free (with charts of diff between free and pro

not sure what else, i know i like some others ... but try em out, see if you like em

Norton is the very software I would NOT recommend to a person who is new to computers. Constant annoyance, constant updates that confuse users, etc. I've also seen it start detecting problems within its own files, that's just crazy.

Not to go off topic, but do most of these programs include good firewalls as well? I can't remember about PC-Cillin since it's been over two years since I used it last.

We use Trend Micro Office Officescan at work and it seems to work pretty much in the background. I use Norton internet security at home, because i can restrict and montor access and use by my boys

Here's an intresting update, I just noticed ZoneAlarm added some Identity theft protection to it's Internet security suite.

I've Used Norton = Good, but a memory hog as previouly mentioned. Mcaffee Same
I've Used PC-cillian used to be great if not best, caught almost everything and never noticed it was even on.

AVG= Very good and Free.

PCCillin is worth the money but if money is an issue AVG is ther Perfect fit.
