Has to be a battery failure.
Since most laptops, cell phones, etc use lithium based batteries these days, when one of these batteries is damaged, seriously overheated (shorted), and/or cracked open, the Lithium will burn in excess of 2000F when exposed to air (oxygen). It's really about the only component inside any laptop, cell phone, etc. that could ignite such a fire.
Lithium based batteries should never get hot when in use or being charged.
