AMD has made a shift recently. They use to price so much lower because their parts were only of equal or slower peformance. But now AMD has the better performing parts, and they charge it as such, they are actually very reasonable and similair stock performance Intel parts costs more.

Also, Intel has MUCH more fabrication plants than AMD, therefore they can produce more in bulk.

Either way, I think the 805 represents a great value and if you OC it then you've got a killer value, one that I'm tempted to almost go with.

chem, the card you recommended for me is really good for the price i got, especially since mine is professionally overclocked (which you didn't suggest). well, i mean, it wasnt $110, but someone told me that how it's overclocked its got the same core speeds as the lowest x1900

Clock speed != Speed

Yes, the clock speeds might be very high, but a 7600GT will never meet the performance of a X1900. This is due to the fact that the X1900 has many other important things like a lot more shader processors (more parts running at that clock speed), the X1900 also has a wider memory bus so the X1900 still has double the memory bandwidth.

Though the 7600GT is still a great budget card, its unmatched by ATi in that price range for the time being. The X1600 Pro is cheaper than the 7600GT though, the 7600GS is the same price but is generally slower than the X1600 Pro.

haha, too late, i got all the shiat already. havnt gotten around to putting it together yet though. got it around 5 on friday and i had to leave for the races this weekend. in class now, woohoo
