Don't see why I would; the PCIe card fits fine. Maybe I just was doing something wrong and didn't realize it.

PCIe is different from PCI ... put it in another slot and not the slot you pulled the new card out of! if you dont have room.. make room! pull something out that you dont need for testing purposes!

No, I know that Skull. I put it into one of the blank PCI slots (of which both are); summer vacation hasn't melted my brain that much yet.

Ok, so here's something odd. I put HL into software mode (from opengl) playing sven coop and have had no issues. Not sure how to do something like that for D3 or HL2 though

When rendering by software the CPU is doing all the work. This is far to much to do on current games, so there is no such support.

This would seem to either point the issue to the graphics card or the graphics card driver.

You might want to call up the graphics card company and ask about an RMA and if they cross ship, that way you can get it to you as soon as possible. If they do do cross shipping then you'll probably need a cred card.

RMA:

Return Merchandise Authorization

You normally need an RMA# when returning stuff. On sites like NewEgg you can fill out the RMA on line. Or you may have to call to get one.

Well, the thing is, I got it from a computer show so I'm not sure I can do that. Or are you saying call Evga to see if I can return it to them, Chem?

You should be fine as long as it was not a used card. Just call up Evga and say your card is having issues and you'd like to RMA it, ask them if its possible to cross ship.

For cross shipping they'll probably want your credit card number, they do this because people try to steal from them. (Evga sends out a new card but the person doesnt send back their old one which just happens to actually work, getting two cards for "free" with the CC Evga just charges their card for the cost if this happens).

The benefit of cross shipping is you dont have to wait for them to recieve your card till they send you one. BFG did it with me twice, not sure how Evga is about it though.

Really you shouldnt have any trouble RMA'ing the card, no matter where you bought it. Most companies are glad to help you, this way you are more likely to come back them for your next upgrade.
