Transfer songs from IPOD back to PC after crash....

I had to reformat my entire hard drive on July Fourth.....sucked ***.

Anyway, I lost all my Itunes stuff. But it is still on my IPOD. I've been researching how to transfer the songs back from the IPOD to my PC but the articles I am reading
are just crap.

Anyone have any advice so I can transfer my library back to my PC?

Sorry can't offer you any assistance as I don't throw money to a marketing scheme.

However, becareful, I watched a friend attempt this the 'logical' way and it deleted all her music.

Uhh wouldnt iTunes support something of this support?

You should just be able to redownload iTunes and the music should still be in your name, correct?

If not then iTunes is even more screwed than I thought.

I know man! I've seen it too! That's why I'm asking. I have a hell of a lot of music on the thing. And I was making playlists to burn and send to Myst in Iraq. :(

Neither do I, but I got it as a birthday present so I have been trying to make the best of it. I mean I'm not going to throw it in the trash. It does serve it's purpose as a portable media player.

But when you try to restore I-Tunes after a system crash.....man is it scary.

In short I am not an IPOD fanboy. And I'm not dissing those that are.

Just need some advice from people that may have had to reformat and then get their music back on their PC from an IPOD. Thank God I had all my files backed up that really mattered.

Except for stupid I-Tunes that has 5000 plus songs. Dammit!!

On the positive side it sure is nice to be running a nice, shiney new install of XP after installing all the updates. :)

Well the best part of what happened to my friend was when she switched from a Desktop PC to a MacBook.

Sucker.

Honestly, sorry Spooks I wish I could give you some actual help.

You are correct. It is screwed. Make one mistake when you connect the IPOD to your PC and if it syncs wrong you lose everything. I've seen it happen
in front of my eyes to other people. That's why I'm asking.

NP Lopo my friend! There has got to be a good answer. But I also am overly paranoid from watching others lose all.

Well, if you just outright install itunes and connect the ipod you'll lose everything. It may work if you set it to manually move files from the computer to the ipod and vice versa

I've done it a few times on a Mac, it's easy. iTunes "should" prompt you if you want to sync the iPod with your iTunes Library. Choose no and then run one of the aforementioned apps.

I believe Anapod does not require iTunes be installed to function. and is stand alone software.
