Features You Want For Chemical Hardware?

Chemical Hardware is getting a complete redesign right now and a ton of new features. I'm going to cover some of the stuff being added and then I'd like to see what else people want.

A list of what's being added:

User Registration
- User article. As a registered user you can send me a PM and become a "author." Being an author allows you to submit your own reviews and articles to Chemical Hardware.
- A PM system, this is only for communication with a user author. I still suggest using the FOS system (which are of course still CH's home forums) as the one at CH is very limited and only for use of specific items (like contacting articles or me getting in touch with those who are not registered here).

Comment system. You can post a comment for news, articles, and user articles. This does not requiere you to log in, only to type out the letters on a image (to prevent spam).

A News archive. Have any news you want to search again? Now CH has a database that can be searched easily.

Article database can now be searched.

RSS and other newsfeeds for the front page news.

Adjustable fonts. The site allows the user to adjust the font size, to be smaller or larger. Its unlimited either way but to large will of course break the sites formatting but that's hard to reach.

Front page polls.



The goal is to have this done by the end of the month, and at the current pace it should be done before then. Right now I'm interested in what other features people want to see on the site.

Take it from me Chem, start with a minimal set and slowly add. You will find that you add too much to quick it won't get adopted.

Yeah, I agree.

Really some of it should have been there from the very start. Such as the archives, but things like newsfeeds people find useful and I think the font adjust is just simply really nice to have if you're viewing on a smaller monitor or at a higher resolution.

User submittable reviews and articles will take awhile to take off, I expect that, but its there for those who have no place else to post them. They have to go under my review first in order to be posted, but I dont think I'll need to edit anyone, at least I hope.

I am working on a module now that will pull rss feeds from other pages and place it on the portal, I will make sure yours is on the list
