Can you import a file into Excel?

Is .xls Excel?

I think it is.

.xls is the Excel file format. Should be able to open it right up with Excel.

This dang Vista Chem, it won't open with Excel 2000.
It will with the MS 2003 Word Viewer, and you can read it, but not edit.
And the format is all scrambled.

Not truly surprising. That is Microsoft's way of going "Buy Office 2007 damn it!"

Anyway, check out OpenOffice and see if it will allow you to properly open and edit the file. No guarantees but at least its worth the try.

OpenOffice should work. I've used it several times to open up Excel 2000 files. Might lose some formatting, that's about it.
