I'm seriously looking at an upgrade this fall so just out of curiosity, what are you coming up with for price. I did a similar hypothetical build that came in around $2200.

Does that main board have sli for 2 vid cards? I'm thinking it might be worth it to have that option in the near future.

just one x16 slot.

i honestly have not seen a review that showd sli anywhere worth it. no point in sli'ing two medium cards when 1 fast one will do. besides there are some 1gb gpu cards on the way.

Suggestions:

Silverstone ST75F 750Watt PSU

G.Skill 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR2 800

One other thing is the case. I really just don't care for Thermaltake products. My friends Tsunami case is insanely loud as well and the tool-less design it uses in the back is cheap and cases more pain than help.

I have yet seen where two sli cards are worth the price you need to keep the machine running cooler and with a ton more power. for a small bump. sli is a pipe dream for people who like to waste money.

Consider what the cost difference is.... and how much more power you need as well as case cooling. Save your money and wait for them to just put multi cores on a single video board. I know two people who have a huge dual sli setup. Both complain about over heating and that the case feels like a toaster over... for that I can buy a toaster oven for 50 bucks not 2k

Nope, but if you want some life out of it... potentially. Really I would probably go with a 620W Corsair unit, but the Silverstone is at a really good price point right now and is a great power supply. Honestly the system MT has up above will probably draw about 450 watts (if that) at maximum load.

I got this one Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail

and love it for my rig.. Stable as hell, Nice modules for plug it in as you need it.
No need for extra dangling cables.

I'm only hitting it with a e6600 and an older ati x1650pro. Then the typical other items like 2 sata drives and 2 dvd drives and a few little fans. Runs clean and all I do to keep it running is open it up and clean the dust buildup.
