Monitor Help/Advice

Hey everyone again!

So far the only monitor that has caught my eye in performance, size, and price is this one, what do you think is it worth it? Anywhere else I should be looking besides the main stream stores? Have any other suggestions on what to look for or a monitor itself?

LG - 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - W2252TQ-TF

*edit* I looked around some more, this definitly seems the best that I can find, 22 inch's, no real problems except some backlight bleed around the edges which is said to be minimal with annoyance, and 10000:1 ratio with DVI

I really don't know too much about panels,
but that one seems to have great specs.
I know a lot of people rate Samsung's very high
as well, and you'll want to see what they have.

If you plan to go Widescreen, I would advise jumping up to 24". The 22" only support 1680 x 1050 maximum resolutions, and the 24" support up to 1920 x 1200 resolutions. It's a huge difference, believe me.

Here is one of the 24" TFTs I use at home: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 245BW Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor with Height Adjustment 400 cd/m2 1000:1 (DC 3000:1) - LCD Monitors

New Egg has it for $419 after rebate right now. I did a google search, and found it as low as $339.00. Lowest in store I found was $449.99 at Circuit City.

Here is a place online that I have bought refurbs and open box from and have been very happy with, and they have it at $340: SAMSUNG 245BW Samsung 245BW 24-inch LCD Monitor ( flat panel monitors lcd )

BeHardware - Monitors

Read it, best place you'll find online to learn about panels. A monitor choice isn't a light one. You should go to a local store and look at monitors there to decide on if you prefer 22" or 24" and the pixel density that comes with those choices. I find 24" pixel density to tight and the fonts a bit smallish because of that, so I got a 22". It's very much a personal choice, so check it out.

Samsung is nearly always a safe bet and they generally produce the widest used panels as well.

In my 100 years of computing experience (or there abouts) the 22" Samsung is by far the best monitor I've ever had. 22 or 24 is up to you. 24 didnt fit my space limitations but the Samsung monitors have my vote.
