Recommend a Retirement Laptop for a VP
I've been asked to find a high-end laptop to be given by my company to a long-term VP that is retiring. I want something with Blu-Ray and lots of long term protential for a retiree to get years of use. Price up to $5k, they thought a iMac and I nearly upchucked. The VP has used different Thinkpads for years. Thinkpads are reliable but not too business-like to be cool.
I've looked at HP and Dell laptops. Some nice ones but nothing that blows my socks off. I looked at alienware and they are pretty much what I want, except the alien theme is not this VP They do put a customized nameplate on the laptop, a cool touch.
Suggestions?

I dont know of any real cool laptops, but I would suggest that maybe you add a docking station and a nice monitor and keyboard for when he is at home. I think a 3K+ notebook, docking station and 22-24 inch monitor would blow me away

Look at the Sonys, they might have something that fits performance with good looks since you won't look at a mac.

Always glad to help Boss!
Word of Advice, get the Optional 3 Year Accidental Damage CarePaq! That way, if he drops it, drools onto the keyboard, or what ever, HP will fix it at no additional cost!

If you wanted an alternate, here are a couple of sony's, I am sure Erad's is better even though it is an HP

Well, depending on the time frame of how soon Centrino 2 laptops start launching it might be worth the wait. At that cost though anything is possible.

There is also the most beautiful laptop in the market:
Voodoo Envy
Sure you might be paying a bit for the name... but it's one sexy laptop. In fact I don't think any other even comes close but a MacBook Pro.
