LCD v Plasma
So I'm looking to get a set in the 50-55" range.
Everything I've read says Plasma has the best picture and doesn't have the blur issues of LCD's (or atleast not as bad).
So I'm leaning towards the Plasma. Good/Bad idea?
Any gurus out there have some info I should know?

From what I've read, LED is basically a backlit LCD so I think most of the pros and cons are the same although I think the LED has improved black levels.
The blur is what I'm concerned about. I watch action movies and sports and want a clear pic. Also I read the LCD's have a new 120mhz mode to address blur, it makes movies appear weird. A 'soap opera effect' not sure what that means but thay say you can turn that 120 mode on and off. I don't wanna adjust my set each time I watch something.
Why does it have to be so difficult

I am not a guru, but I can tell you that the 30" lcd in my bedroom doesn't seem to have any issues with motion blur.
I have been told repeatedly that plasma is the happiest way to go.
I am going to be in the same boat in another month or two so hopefully someone gives us a good answer!

If I had to do it all over again I wouldnt have listened to RKT and gone plasma myself. LED IS NOT the way to go right now. If you really want LED type tv wait till OLED comes down in price.
*edit this is blong again and like i stated before im too lazy to log her out.

I just bought a 46 inch LED myself MT. Sanyo. I am absolutely please with it where anything HD or blue ray is playing. Regular tv is just that... regular tv on it.
I got into a discussion with the sales guy about plasma and LED and he told me, at the time, the biggest difference was that plasma has a higer refresh rate standard over the LED. There was a difference there also though I think where one would refresh the whole tv picture and the other refreshes I believe a pixal at a time or something like that. Might want to ask as I just don't remember.
I can say that I have no complaints about my LED though. I have an xbox, home theatre and a home built media center w/HD out connected to it and it plays wonderful.

If we always waited on something new or prices we would never have anything though.....
Someone has to make the jump.

One little tidbit of info: The human eye processes information at 60 Hz. So just like with your computer monitor, as long as you get something with a refresh rate of 60 Hz or higher (like the new 120 Hz LCD/LED) you should not be able to notice anything.

That is why I went with my sanyo LED dutch... the plasma refresh rate is really really high... again... can't remember what it was. So it didn't seem necessary. I looked at both sitting side by side and was equally impressed with both but the price of the LED was waaaaay more likable with the 120 Hz.
