It was good and bad.

The critics who said that it didn't have enough action are dense(IMO)...that's not what the movie is supposed to be about. I also loved the way that it didn't feel like a propaganda movie for either side. Both points of view on war are addressed briefly in the movie, but only in passing. It's a story about a soldier preparing for war, NOT a story about the war.

I believe it just grazed the surface of the pyschological effect it was meant to have on people. I mean I felt what they were trying to address, I just don't feel like I was "MOVED". I don't know. It was an OK movie.

I heard many people thought it made the Marines out to be stupid dumb f***s.

I didn't get that, sometimes I think people try to make something out of nothing when I movie like this comes out.
