Blu-ray vs. HD DVD
I'm not getting anything for awhile, but seemed like a good read.

Blu-Ray on its own is the superior format. Those who say opposite are either biased, or were informed by someone who is. The only sticking point to me for Blu-Ray is the company behind it, Sony. I trust Sony less than Microsoft, far less actually.

You mean HD and Blu-ray? From my understanding it will but will not be able to use all the HD features. For that reason it did not earn the right to use the HD branded logo on the casing. HD and Blu-ray are very different in regards to hardware and it is not easy to make a machine that plays both.
I'm sure all HD and Blu-ray players will be backwards compatible with standard DVD and I would imagine upscale.
