Thumbs up Live Free Or Die Hard.

You know I was kinda iffy about this one but damn was I surprised after watching it. Its pretty much the same plot from the other Die Hards just more computer hackers and stuff in it. But I dunno something about it just made it awesome. Its one of those movies with a lot of "Hell Yeah!" moments in them. Very enjoyable in the theatre and the crowd really was into it, hell I was too rooting for McClane to Kill the bad guys and wreck and or blow up cars in various ways. Pure Popcorn flick. I think it fits well with the rest of the series even though they went a bit overboard like the whole highway overpass part that was freaking crazy and over the top but awesome. I was worried about the PG13 rating but I was surprised. I dont think they toned anything down really they still cussed up a storm per usual and lots of bad guy killing.

Heres basically how things went down.

Oh noes hackers!

enter John Mclane

Proceeds to whoop *** for rest of the movie with the following occuring in no particular order.

A little of

with a little bit of

and lots of They even threw in a Russan Ninja for McClane to fight. Ok I dunno if he was a ninja or Russian for that matter(they werent clear on where they were from) ,but he sure had ninja moves.

repeat till end roll credits.

So basically violence, one liners, a high body count with high explosives and firearms solves everything which it did pretty much and made one hell of a fun movie to watch. The only thing that kinda irked me was the Kevin Smith cameo I mean I can appreciate the movies hes made but I dunno. Im sure how they portrayed most of the hackers besides the main bad guy was pretty sterotypical OMG LIVES WITH MOM LOL BASEMENT! and the whole hey I can outhack you by hacking what you hacked with my fanny pack full of computer stuff and a fold out keyboard. On that note the dude from the mac vs pc commercials was pretty cool as McClane's sidekick abit cliche he was basically the same character that Seth Green Played in the remake of The Italian Job but oh well.

Lets list some of the cliches.

Stupid FBI, government agents : Check
Hot Asian Assassin Chick who happens to know Kung Fu: Check
Computer hackers are nerds: Check
Guys with Machine guns cant hit worth anything but Hero with pistol hits everytime: Check
Cars, buildings, helicopters, overpasseses and random powerplants exploding or being destroyed in some manner: Hell Yeah Check
McClane and his obligatory sidekick are the only ones that can stop the evil super hacker and his cohorts: Check
Sidekick happens to be the super ultra hacker that can outhack and reverse hack anyone/anything: Check
Kidnapped loved one in peril but bad guy is stupid in handling said person: Check
Did I mention Explosions and guns?

I liked it, but one complaint. Seriously...even if it was only a tongue-in-cheek joke...any computer geek who cannot pronounce "Dvorak" would kill himself immediate . That part just didn't work .

I loved this movie so much, great, great stuff. I've been wanting to see a great action flick like that for a while, so I'm happy. Sure, I wish it had been rated R but I guess we can all get that on DVD or whatever. Heck, I'd consider going back to watch it again since I loved it so much. Also, when John McClane was explaining why he continues to do what he does, there's no one else to do it right now, one can't help but think about Bruce Willis himself saying that in response to why he's still doing an action flick like this. In my opinion, few do it as great as Bruce.

If you can't find something to enjoy about this one, then I'm not quite sure what else you want in a popcorn action flick.
